Augusta Weekend 2013

We had another fun weekend in Augusta at the Todds.  The normal gang joined in on the fun.  Luckily, the Dawgs pulled out a great win.  We enjoyed lots of fun, food, and fellowship.  :)  We're always looking forward to the next time we see the Todds, Greers, and Meyur!  Here's a recap from our weekend together.

The girls ventured out with the kids to the Pumpkin Patch.  Ansley quickly learned how to pick the perfect pumpkin.

Our crazy crew!
We took a golf cart ride to the fire station close by and some of the kids got in the big truck.

Ansley wasn't so sure about the fire truck, but liked to "drive" the golf cart.
Ansley and Matthew were buddies all weekend.
After naps, the kids all changed in to their UGA outfits and cheered the Dawgs on to victory!

Sunday morning, we all got up, ate breakfast, and played outside until lunch.

Sweet John playing.

Ansley and Matthew continued to be buddies.

The big kids, aka Mitch, Joe, Nate, and Meyur, enjoyed a game of baseball in the yard and road.

The best picture we could get with our 6 kids.
We had a blast and can't wait to see everyone again.  Until next time...

July, August, September Update

I'm back! :)  I've had intentions to sit down and blog many times, but something always gets in the way. We've had a fun and busy past three months.  Here are some of the highlights from July, August and September.

We celebrated July 4th with a parade and firework show in Perry with friends.

We also went to Lake Blackshear with my family for a fun get-a-way.

SueSue and I met her cousin, Martha, at Lane's one summer day for lunch.  Ansley loved the tractors.

Ansley loved "hiding" in her toy bucket during our last few days of summer.

Ansley started back at Mrs. Cathy's house.  Mom made her this cute Back to School outfit.

We celebrated the wedding weekend of Kyle and Candace.  I will post more pictures when the photographer finishes and posts them.  Here are just a few from the weekend.

Football season has begun!  We love Georgia Saturdays! :)

Ansley sometimes poses for me like I ask.  This picture was too sweet not to share.  Last Sunday before church.

We took Ansley to her first Hornet game.  She was too cute in her uniform.  She refused pictures that night though! :(

Hopefully I can get back into the blogging routine.  :)

New Beginnings...

Matthew 7:8 says, "For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened."

Just a quick update in my life!!

I have been praying for clarity and direction career-wise for quite some time.  I wasn't completely happy in my current school, and I knew the Lord had a better opportunity for me.  I prayed that he would present that opportunity to me and make it crystal clear.  Well, He is always faithful.  I started my first official day today as the new 5th grade teacher at Westfield.  I am BEYOND excited to have this new opportunity.  God's hand was in every step of me getting this job, and it's so neat to look back and see how it all progressed.  I continue to thank Him every day for his blessing of this new opportunity!

I'll blog a little more frequently when things settle down.  It's been a whirlwind around here trying to pack-up my old classroom and set-up my new one!  I still need to share some photos from our July 4th celebrations.

Perfect Timing

As sad as it is that my summer is winding down, I can honestly say I am so glad to see this week go!  It was probably one of the toughest weeks I've had being a mommy.  I know my "struggles" pale in comparison to what others are dealing with, and I know I'm incredibly blessed with what I've been given, BUT it was still a rough week at the Greer house.  I'll give you a quick recap! :)

Last Saturday, Ansley started with the stomach virus.  That's always fun to have around in the house.  She's had it once before, but it wasn't quite as bad as this time.  After 24 hours of throwing up, we ended with a week's worth of diarrhea.  Lovely.  To make that situation even harder, Mitch had to go out of town for 3 days with work.  Ansley was not feeling well still from the virus, she's been trying to cut these two teeth on the top for a week or so, and she was just fussy.  She didn't sleep well at night, which always means the days are going to be rough.  We did a lot of driving around this week just to get out of the house!  For some unknown reason, I started having migraines again.  I dealt with them several years ago, but they had faded away.  For some strange reason, I had 3 migraines during the nighttime last week.  If the stomach virus and daddy being out of town wasn't enough, the nighttime migraines were icing on the cake.  The medicine I take is pretty good at dealing with the pain, but it's loaded with caffeine, so I'm up ALL night.  I'll admit that I was pretty grumpy those next days too!  The cherry on top of all of that would be the fact that Ansley is trying so hard to be independent.  I'm all about self-sufficiency, but the fits that come with the frustration are not great.  Ansley loves shoes and always wants to wear them.  She is in this phase where she wants to put them on, but when she can't get them on, she pitches a fit.  Then once you help her get them on, she wants them off! :)  She tries to get them off, but when she can't, she pitches a fit.  We had several fits last week, and this mama was tired.  Mitch came home Friday, and I know I looked like I had been run over by a truck....at least that's how I felt!

However, after all that, God's timing is always perfect.  Last weekend, Mitch and I had our 5 year anniversary.  Mitch had been planning a secret get-a-way for the two of us, but he planned it for this weekend instead of last weekend due to the 4th of July.  After the long week, I couldn't wait to get away.  It was just what I needed to get some rest, relaxation, and rejuvenate myself!!  Mitch planned a night at the Ritz Carlton at Lake Oconee.  We had a spa appointment on Saturday afternoon for a couple's massage and mineral soak, and we had the rest of the weekend to do whatever we wanted.  The spa was amazing!  Mitch had never had a massage before and was pretty apprehensive.  Afterwards, I asked him how he liked it, and he said, "AWESOME!"  He wanted to book another massage for Sunday, but we decided to wait a little longer.  :)

We picked up our sweet girl from my parents house this afternoon, and we were so glad to see her.  I think it did her good to get away from mama for a while.  She's been my sidekick all summer, and although I love the bond it's created, she needs to be around others too.  She's been a sweet girl tonight, and I'm looking forward to our last couple of weeks of summer break together.  Here's a few pics from our weekend.

Excuse our look here, we had just finished with our massages and headed down to the beach area.

After dinner at Gaby's.

Happy 5 Years!

Today is five years since Mitch and I said, "I do!" I'm so thankful for the life that God has blessed us with.  Our love grows stronger each day, and I look forward to the rest of our lives together.  :)

Happy Anniversary, Mitch.  I love you!
